I have to say one of my favorite parts about my job is the families I get to work with. If you know the S family, you know they are the real deal. Such beautiful people - inside and out. Down to earth, funny, loving and caring.
I love that we have adoption in common - in fact, our youngest girls are both adopted from China, and they are in the same class together - how awesome is that?
I had so much fun with the S family, and I really enjoy all the Beach Sessions. Beach is my happy place, and it often is for the Beach Session families, too. And you don't necessarily even need to bring activities for the kids to do, they are typically so happy about playing in the sand, the waves and if you find a stick - that's always fun! Or you can play with the seaweed. (I have a great one with dad playing with it, that will probably end up on Instagram later:)
I have decided the One Hour Sessions are a bit too short, so starting in 2018 my shortest session will be a Short Story Session, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. If we do the session on the beach, we'll start about two hours before sun sets and keep shooting until we're done.
These shorter sessions will still be similar to my former One Hour Sessions. They can be purely documentary (capturing candid moments), or a mix of traditional posing and documentary. If the latter, we would start with some traditional portraits, get those done in the first ten minutes or so, then I would spend the rest of the time capturing moments and connections that naturally happen within your family. And in the end I might get everyone together for some group shots, too - usually the favorites as everyone is relaxed and happy, all wet and sandy if we've been at the beach.
This fall has been challenging for Beach Sessions. There has been quite a few rescheduled shoots. This one almost got canceled, too, because of rain (and some nasty no-see-ums!), but by making a quick location change, and cutting our session a little short we had quite a successful session, wouldn't you say?
Thank You, S family, for the fun and gorgeous shoot this week!
If you're interested in booking a session with me, let me know! My December and January are already booked, but I have some availability in February 2018. Day in the Life Sessions are 30% off for February, including Disney Day in the Life Sessions. And if you're interested in a session later in the spring, I can put you on a priority waiting list until I open up my Spring schedule.
Gift cards are available for this holiday season!
