2020
What can I say? It was the year of quarantine, masks, searching for toilet paper, bleach and meat. It was a year of cancellations, one after another. And time spent at home - a lot.
So many disappointments - especially when plans to see loved ones had to be postponed, and fun places were closed.
But also there were wonderful gems of happiness too. In my family we had our big kids home more than usual, and once we did travel to Maine, we stayed longer and had my sister’s family come stay with us.
I don’t think I’m the only one whose highlight of the year was time spent with family.
One of our sons graduated from college, and found a job locally. Another one passed various pilot instructor tests and is working as a flight instructor, also locally. Two are still in college, and our teenager started dual enrollment classes at our local college. Our youngest started second grade, and we decided to homeschool full time.
As for Stories of Joy Photography, there were many postponed family sessions, one postponed wedding, and multiple gift cards purchased for 2021. I launched my Year In The Life Program and had one family complete it (we’re still working on their book), and four more still in the midst of it.
While there were moments I wondered if my business would make it through the pandemic, I’m happy to report more families have realized the specialness of documentary family photography. We all want to make tangible memories of our families - even in the midst of hard times.
So thank you. Thank you to all my families who’ve trusted me to photograph their families. I appreciate all of you more than words can say. And thank you to everyone supporting my small business by referring me to your family and friends, liking, commenting and sharing my social media posts and cheering me on. You are all special to me.
We don’t know what 2021 will bring, but I know Who does. I choose to trust in our Heavenly Father no matter what happens. He cares for each of us and is waiting for us to turn to Him.
Happy New Year 2021 to all of You!!!
xoxo

PS. Sharp eyes will notice not all images in these collages are from 2020 - these are screen shots from my Instagram account, and I occasionally will use an older photo.
PS2. 2019 is found here, and there are links to previous years there.
